spider butler

This one took a LOT of finangling. It's a concept for the game i'm going to be releasing soon (a short visual novel that'll be free to download).

The core of it is simply an OCD butler that functions as both an obstacle and comic relief. An issue that i ran into early on, though, was communicating both the spider-ness and readability of the character. Also, given that most of these characters would only be seen Waist up (as is convention in VNs) it compounded the issue. (unfortunately I didn't save them, but there was a good number of rejected ideas of me failing to make this work)

In the end I ended up ditching the extra arms for readability's sake and instead used those front-danglers to communicate the spiderness (common in webspinners). I'll be doing some more revisions (gotta rearrange the legs for physic's sake, redesign the butt design, etc), but most of his problems are resolved now. yay.
